when did god have time to help barack study?

alright, its the day after Obama has taken office and we are all changed. cant you feel it? i don't feel it, but that is neither here nor there, because god has brought Obama to this place in history.

let me explain, while watching the inauguration coverage i noticed on more than one occasion, that people of all races and colors were thanking god for bringing Barack Obama to his rightful place as president. now, don't get me wrong, i have no problem with people having faith to help them get through tough times. but, it was not god who stayed up all night studying. it was not god who pushed Obama to be more than most thought he could be. it was not god who trod the path of most resistance to pave way for a black man to become president. as a matter of fact, i say, if god truly existed a persons skin color, financial standing, schooling (to some extent), or religious affiliation wouldn't matter.

but it does. that is why its so monumental that a black man is president. that is why in many polls, more people would rather vote for a black man or a woman than a Jew. the only group less likely to get voted in would be a gays.

so i say, thank you Barack Obama. thank you for studying so hard. thank you for being more than just a man with an education who works for a big firm somewhere. thank you to your family and friends for pushing you to be more. and do more. thank you for not just being an American, but for being a human. a human being who lives on a planet with a lot of other people who may not always agree with you but deserve your respect none the less. but i also say thank you for having faith. because sometimes we all need to have faith in something more than just all this around us. but faith can never make us better people, only our deeds can do that.

thank you Barack Obama, now get to work and stop all the dancing.

finally starting to feel better

man having a cold sucks... its been about a week and a half and im starting to feel better. ande just made another batch of chicken soup w/matzo balls. that should help get this totally out of me. on another note, have started walking the dogs on a regular basis, and hope to get running soon. my left knee is really made at me for it, but nobody asked its opinion. i really want to run the doggie dash this year. its only 5k and i still have a few months. i think. dont really know when it starts.

on the job front. i have a interview with target on monday. the really sad part is, i dont know what position its for. ive applied for so many positions at so many places. this is the first call, so... yea team. i really dont care what its for, i just want to work. it sucks being home so much. ande and i are getting on each others nerves. and thats never good...

we saw milk the other day and while there was a couple behind us giving a running commentary during almost the entire film, i was moved to tears. partly because of anger, partly because the movie was just sad, but mostly because i just dont understand the attitude people have about what being gay is. while i am not gay, i just dont think that being gay is evil or even wrong in any way. its just not for me. are gay people freaks, disgusting perverts? no more than straight people. hetero couples have some of the freakiest fetishes out there. but its not them who are persecuted, no, they are the ones doing the witch hunts.

a lot of people will say sean penn gave a "brave" performance. but i think he just did a damn good job acting. i dont think mr. penn is gay, but he is an actor, and he did a great job. to me, there is nothing brave about one male actor playing a part that requires him to kiss another man. its there job. its what he gets paid a lot of money to do. the brave ones are the ones who have to live thier lives day in and day out like that, and take all the stares and rude comments in (hopeful) stride.

but its not just mr. penn, its the entire cast. every single person who acted in, supported, worked on, or just plain paid attention to the details that did a fantastic job. with one exception, during one scene in the camera store, the boom mic peeked in from the top of the screen. luckily it wasnt during an intense scene, and im not sure if anybody else noticed it, but ande and i did. sure it was a minor thing, actually, really the only thing that i could find wrong with it...

thats what i thought about the movie... it made me cry, for a couple of reasons, but it made me feel hopeful, and what else can you expect from a movie other than to make you feel something that you werent feeling until you went into the theatre.

stuff white people like

just saw this and thought i would share...

the apple wheel... who needs a keyboard

Apple Introduces Revolutionary New Laptop With No Keyboard

update on at&t

ok, so here is a quote from an at&t tech...

"I can say that this story is complete bunk. I work for at&t as a cellular network tech and we are in no way making an 850 site a 1900 it is far to costly there is plenty of spectrum for both sites to use the 850mhz. While there may be a few sites out there that have moved to a 1900mhz sites they would be few and far between. The issue is air rights for one and second our sites are far to costly to change bands on. We are talking radios/antenna's/tower mounted amps/combiners/multicouplers etc... I love how holding two phones together is his testing. UMTS cell phones use multiple sites at once and that improves things greatly (just like good ol CDMA) I cant see how this guy can make such a huge generalization."

hopefully this is true, but who can tell with all the shit on the internet

at&t is really pissing me off

they are scaling back on thier edge network... link. i cannot afford to upgrade to a 3g phone, nor do i want to pay for the 3g service. if at&t had a better 3g coverage, it wouldnt be so bad, but it sucks as it is. but more than that, the scaling back of a service that i signed a contract for and am expected to keep my end of the bargain but they can just decide that they dont want to really seems to be unfair. i know the world isnt fair, but come on...
